Hoya Sarawak Large Leaf
Hoya Sarawak Large Leaf
Hoya Sarawak Large Leaf is an eye-catching trailing succulent vine prized for its oversized, glossy leaves and compact growth habit. Each leaf is thick, slightly cupped, and elliptic to obovate in shape, often reaching noticeably larger dimensions than typical hoyas. Leaves display a deep green color with occasional lighter speckling or subtle venation. This variety produces clusters of fragrant, star-shaped wax flowers (when mature and happy) on short peduncles and prefers bright, indirect light, well-draining soil, and moderate humidity. Its robust foliage and forgiving care make it a great choice for hanging baskets, shelves, or as a statement indoor plant.
Light
Bright, indirect light is best. East- or west-facing windows work well; avoid harsh midday sun that can scorch leaves.
Water
Allow the top 2–3 inches (5–7 cm) of soil to dry between waterings.
Humidity & Temperature
Prefers moderate to high humidity (50%+ ideal). Benefit from occasional misting or a nearby humidifier in dry homes. Temperature range: 60–85°F (15–29°C). Protect from drafts and temperatures below 50°F (10°C).
Soil & Potting
Use a fast-draining, airy mix: cactus/succulent mix amended with orchid bark, perlite, or pumice works well.
Fertilizer
Feed with a balanced, diluted houseplant fertilizer during the growing season (spring–summer) every 4–6 weeks.
Pruning & Support
Provide a trellis or hanging basket; trailing or climbing habit is natural and attractive.
Flowering
Flowers form on spurs; don’t remove old spurs after flowering. Adequate light, slight root restriction, and consistent care encourage blooms.
