Chlorophytum orchidastrum Fire Flash 45cm

Chlorophytum orchidastrum Fire Flash 45cm
Chlorophytum orchidastrum ‘Fire Flash’ is a striking ornamental houseplant known for its arching, sword-shaped leaves that display a bold central red to orange stripe against glossy dark green margins. More compact and architectural than common spider plants, it forms neat clumps and produces slender flower stalks with small, white to cream blooms. ‘Fire Flash’ is valued for easy care, dramatic foliage contrast in mixed pots, and suitability for tabletops or shelves where its upright, colorful leaves can be showcased.
Light
Bright, indirect light is best. Morning or filtered afternoon sun will enhance the red/orange tones. Avoid harsh direct midday sun, which can scorch leaves.
Water
Water when the top 1–2 inches (2.5–5 cm) of potting mix feel dry. Keep evenly moist but not waterlogged.
Humidity & Temperature
Prefers moderate to high humidity (40–60%). Benefit from occasional misting or a nearby humidity tray in dry homes. Ideal temperature range 65–80°F (18–27°C). Protect from drafts and temperatures below 55°F (13°C).
Soil & Potting
Use a well-draining, peat-based or general-purpose indoor potting mix with added perlite or orchid bark for extra drainage.
Fertilizer
Feed with a balanced liquid houseplant fertilizer (e.g., 10-10-10) diluted to half strength every 4–6 weeks during the growing season (spring–summer).
