Ficus Elastica Tineke 110cm
Ficus Elastica Tineke 110cm
Ficus elastica ‘Tineke’ — commonly called the variegated rubber plant — is a striking, medium-to-large evergreen houseplant prized for its glossy, oval leaves splashed with cream, pale green, and deep green. It has a graceful, upright growth habit and can be trained to a single trunk or kept as a multi-stemmed specimen. Low-maintenance and decorative, it makes an excellent focal plant for living rooms, offices, or entryways.
Light
Bright, indirect light is best. Variegation needs good light to stay crisp; avoid deep shade.
Water
Water when the top 2 inches (5 cm) of soil are dry. Stick to a regular schedule but avoid overwatering.
Soil & Potting
Use a well-draining, airy potting mix (peat-based mix with perlite or orchid bark works well).
Humidity & Temperature
Prefers 50–60% humidity but tolerates average home humidity. Increase humidity (tray, pebble tray, or occasional misting) if air is very dry. Ideal temperature 65–80°F (18–27°C). Keep above 55°F (13°C) and away from cold drafts or sudden temperature swings.
Fertilizer
Feed with a balanced, water-soluble houseplant fertilizer every 4–6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer).
Propagation
Propagate by stem cuttings with at least one node; root in water or a moist, well-draining medium. Using a growth hormone can improve success.
Toxicity
All parts are toxic if ingested—keep away from pets and children.
Typical size
Indoors it can reach 4–8 feet (1.2–2.5 m) depending on pot size and pruning.
