Calathea Beauty Star
Calathea Beauty Star
Calathea Beauty Star is a compact, tropical houseplant prized for its dramatic, silvery-green oval leaves with bold dark green veins and a deep purple underside. Ideal for bathrooms, kitchens, or terrariums where humidity is higher.
Light
Bright, indirect light only. Avoid direct sun (leaf scorch).
Water
Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water when the top 1 inch (2–3 cm) feels slightly dry. Use filtered, distilled, or rainwater if possible; Calatheas are sensitive to fluoride and chlorine in tap water.
Humidity
High humidity (60%+) preferred. Provide humidity with a humidifier, pebble tray with water, or regular misting.
Temperature
Maintain 65–80°F (18–27°C). Protect from drafts and sudden temperature changes. Avoid temperatures below 60°F (15°C).
Soil & Potting
Use a well-draining, peat-based mix with perlite or orchid bark for aeration.
Fertilizer
Feed lightly during the growing season (spring–summer) with a balanced, diluted houseplant fertilizer every 4–6 weeks.
