Pilea involucrata

£5.00

Pilea involucrata (commonly called Friendship Plant) is a compact, fast-growing tropical houseplant prized for its textured, quilted leaves. Leaves are rounded to heart-shaped, typically 1–2 inches across, with pronounced venation and a metallic sheen ranging from deep green to bronze or copper. The plant forms low mounds or trailing stems, making it well-suited to small pots, terrariums, or hanging baskets.

Light

Bright, indirect light is best. Avoid direct sun, which can scorch leaves. Tolerates lower light but growth will slow and foliage may lose vibrancy.

Water

Keep soil consistently lightly moist but not waterlogged. Water when the top 1/2 inch (1 cm) of soil feels dry. Reduce frequency in cooler months. Avoid letting the plant sit in standing water.

Humidity

Prefers moderate to high humidity (50%+). Mist occasionally, place on a pebble tray with water, or use a humidifier if indoor air is very dry.

Temperature

Ideal range 65–75°F (18–24°C). Keep above 60°F (15°C) and away from cold drafts or sudden temperature swings.

Soil & Potting

Use a well-draining, peat-based potting mix with perlite or orchid bark added for aeration. Choose a pot with drainage holes.

Fertilizer

Feed with a balanced, water-soluble houseplant fertilizer diluted to half strength every 4–6 weeks during the growing season (spring–early autumn). Hold off in winter.
