Labisia
Labisia
Labisia is a genus of flowering plants in the Primulaceae family, native to Southeast Asian rainforests. These evergreen understory shrubs or subshrubs are valued for their glossy, leathery leaves and clusters of small, often pink or white, tubular flowers. Many Labisia are used as ornamental plants in tropical and subtropical gardens or as houseplants in cooler climates.
Light
Bright, indirect light. Avoid direct midday sun which can scorch leaves; morning or late afternoon sun is fine.
Temperature
Keep between 65–80°F (18–27°C). Protect from drafts and sudden temperature drops.
Humidity
High humidity preferred. Mist regularly, use a pebble tray, or place near a humidifier.
Watering
Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water when the top 1–2 cm (½ inch) of soil feels slightly dry. Use room-temperature water.
Soil
Use a well-draining, peat-based or loam-rich potting mix that retains moisture without staying soggy.
Feeding
Feed lightly during the growing season (spring–summer) with a balanced, diluted liquid fertilizer every 4–6 weeks.
