Hoya Pubicalyx

Hoya Pubicalyx
Hoya pubicalyx is a trailing evergreen vine prized for its glossy, lance-shaped leaves and clusters of star-shaped, waxy flowers that often display deep red centers and a metallic sheen. Ideal for indoor plant collectors seeking an attractive, low-maintenance tropical.
Light
Bright, indirect light is ideal. Provide several hours of bright filtered sun daily; an east- or west-facing window works well. Avoid prolonged direct midday sun to prevent leaf scorch.
Water
Allow the top 1–2 inches of potting mix to dry between waterings. Water thoroughly, then let excess drain away.
Soil & potting
Use a fast-draining, airy mix: a combination of orchid bark, perlite, and high-quality potting soil or a succulent/cacti mix amended with bark makes a good medium.
Temperature & humidity
Prefers 60–85°F (16–29°C). Avoid temperatures below ~50°F (10°C). Moderate to high humidity (50%+) is beneficial for growth and flowering but not strictly required. Use humidity trays or a humidifier in very dry environments.
Fertilizing
Feed with a balanced, diluted liquid fertilizer (half strength) every 4–6 weeks during the growing season (spring–summer).
Pruning & training
Provide a hanging basket or trellis; trailing or climbing habit suits hanging pots, baskets, or a moss pole.
Flowering
Bright light, slight root restriction, and a regular seasonal cycle (warmer, brighter growing season; cooler, slightly drier winter) encourage bloom. Flowers form on short-lived clusters and produce a honey-like fragrance.
