Bonsai Ficus Ginseng

Bonsai Ficus Ginseng
Bonsai Ficus Ginseng is a popular indoor bonsai known for its thick, bulbous trunk and glossy, oval leaves. The trunk — often a swollen root mass resembling a ginseng root — gives the tree a striking, sculptural appearance and makes it a favorite for beginner and experienced growers alike. Ideal for display on tabletops or windowsills, it adds an elegant, low-maintenance touch to home and office interiors.
Light
Bright, indirect light is best. Place near an east- or west-facing window. Avoid prolonged direct midday sun that can scorch leaves. It tolerates lower light but will grow more slowly and may drop leaves.
Watering
Water when the top 1/4–1/2 inch (6–12 mm) of soil feels slightly dry. Stick your finger in to check. Water thoroughly until water runs from the drainage hole; allow excess to drain away. Do not leave the pot sitting in water.
Humidity & Temperature
Prefers warm, stable temperatures: 65–75°F (18–24°C). Keep above 55°F (13°C). Enjoys higher humidity. Mist occasionally or place the pot on a tray with pebbles and water (don’t let the pot sit directly in water).
Soil & Potting
Use a well-draining bonsai or indoor potting mix with good aeration.
Fertilizing
Feed during the growing season (spring through early autumn) with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength every 2–4 weeks.
Pruning & Training
Regularly pinch back new shoots to maintain shape. Use pruning shears for larger branch cuts. Wiring can be used to shape branches but do not overtighten; check wires often and remove before they bite into bark.
