Rhipsalis Bassifera
Rhipsalis Bassifera
Rhipsalis baccifera (mistletoe cactus) — a tropical epiphytic succulent with trailing, pencil-thin stems that form dense, cascading mats. Stems are smooth, segmented and green to gray‑green. Small white to pinkish tubular flowers appear sporadically, followed by round, berry‑like fruits.
Light
Bright, indirect light is best. Avoid direct midday sun; gentle morning or late afternoon sun is acceptable. Tolerates lower light better than many succulents, making it suitable for north- or east-facing windows.
Water
Keep soil lightly moist during the growing season (spring–early fall). Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry. Use room-temperature water; avoid overwatering and standing water to prevent root rot.
Soil & Potting
Use a fast-draining potting mix: cactus/succulent mix amended with extra perlite or orchid bark works well.
Humidity & Temperature
Prefers moderate to high humidity but adapts to average indoor conditions. Mist occasionally or use a humidity tray if air is very dry. Ideal temperature range: 60–80°F (15–27°C). Protect from temperatures below ~50°F (10°C).
Fertilizer
Feed lightly during active growth (spring–summer) with a balanced, diluted liquid fertilizer formulated for cacti/succulents, about once a month.
Flowering & Fruit
Produces small white to pink flowers, sometimes followed by tiny berry-like fruits. Good light and moderate care encourage blooming.
