A compact vining houseplant grown without soil in a water-based nutrient solution. In hydroponic culture it develops lush, heart-shaped leaves with characteristic fenestrations (holes) and faster root growth due to constant access to oxygenated nutrients.

Temperature

Warm temperatures (65–85°F / 18–29°C) and high humidity to encourage healthy foliage. Monitor roots for rot, change reservoir water every 1–2 weeks, and rinse roots during nutrient changes to prevent buildup.

Light

Monstera plants prefer bright, indirect sunlight. In a hydroponic setup, place the plant close to a window that receives filtered light. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves.

Water Quality

A stable reservoir with an air pump or ebb-and-flow/continuous drip system, pH maintained around 5.5–6.5, and balanced hydroponic nutrient solution diluted to about half strength for young plants. Use distilled or filtered water.
