Fatsia Japonica Spider Web
Fatsia Japonica Spider Web
Fatsia japonica 'Spider Web' is an ornamental evergreen shrub prized for its dramatic, deeply lobed glossy leaves marked with white variegation that resembles a spider’s web. It forms a compact, architectural mound typically 3–6 feet tall and wide, making it suitable for shady gardens, patios, or large containers. Fatsia 'Spider Web' produces small white flower clusters in autumn followed by black berries, adding seasonal interest and attracting wildlife. Low-maintenance and striking as a focal or foliage contrast plant.
Light
Bright, indirect light is best. Tolerates lower light but will grow more slowly and may become leggy.
Water
Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water when the top 1–2 inches (2.5–5 cm) of soil feels dry.
Soil & Potting
Use a well-draining, peat-based or all-purpose houseplant mix with added perlite or grit.
Temperature & Humidity
Prefers temperatures 50–75°F (10–24°C). Avoid sustained exposure below 40°F (4°C). Appreciates moderate to high humidity. Mist occasionally, use a pebble tray, or place near a humidifier in dry homes.
Fertilizer
Feed with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer diluted to half strength every 4–6 weeks during the growing season (spring–summer).
Toxicity
Considered mildly toxic if ingested — keep away from pets and children.
